Whether you are a graduating student looking for permanent employment or an underclassman looking for some good hands-on
experience with one of the nation’s most respected contractors, we offer a program to fit your needs.
Each year, we interview graduating students from more than 20 colleges and universities across the country. We even
provide selected candidates a “second look” at Lane with the opportunity to visit a job site or plant site to get a
more in depth experience with the company. We also attend both the fall and spring career fairs at many of the universities
in the locations of our regional operations. We provide students with both summer internship and cooperative education
opportunities for employment.
Lane Sponsors Penn College of Technology CM Team
The student chapter of the Construction Management Association at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA just returned from the national ABC Competition held this year in Puerto Rico. The six member construction management team was co-sponsored by Lane and was pleased to report that they had a stellar performance taking multiple awards. In the Construction Management competition, the team placed third overall out of 23 teams. They also won the second place award in the estimating category. Additionally, one of the team members, Katie Chearney won one of only three awards for her essay on diversity in the workforce. The entire team was selected as the best student chapter of the ABC in the country! Lane provided financial support as well as the jerseys worn during the competition.
Lane Hosts “College Day” at Dulles 4th Runway
By Dan Leone, Manager College Relations
On Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 Lane invited four faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department at George Mason University along with six junior year engineering students to tour the Dulles 4th Runway Project. Project Engineer, Erich Brown was a great tour guide as the group was able to see first hand the concrete paving operations as well as the Batch plant mixing process. If you would like to host a “College Day” at your project or plant facility, give Dan Leone a call in the Cheshire home office. This is a great learning experience for both the faculty and students and helps us promote Lane to our future engineering candidates!
