Dulles Metrorail Utility Relocation
This work is part of the first phase of construction for the extension of the Metro system toward Dulles International Airport. Lane’s project team worked closely with the prime contractor, Dulles Transit Partners (Bechtel & Washington Group) and local property owners on the project. Dozens of unmarked utilities and gasoline-contaminated soil complicated the work. Lane crews worked day and night shifts to meet tight schedule requirements and to coordinate our work with the operations of multiple adjacent contractors.

Dulles International Airport Automated People Mover Main Station
AeroTrain replaced most of the current mobile lounges that transported passengers between the airport’s main terminal and concourses. Construction of the main station required a vertical cut 50 feet below ground at the base of the terminal and the air traffic control tower. The support of excavation system included drilled piles, grouted and post-tensioned tiebacks, grouted rockbolts, splitsets and shotcrete.
