 Highway & Bridge Capabilities

Whether you are a public or private owner, Lane will achieve your project goals through integrated resources that are professionally managed, soundly financed, and strategically positioned to meet your needs.

Lane works within several core sectors in the transportation industry that include earthwork, utility relocation, drainage, concrete structures, concrete and asphalt paving as well as aggregate production and the manufacture of concrete and asphalt pavement. We continue to self-perform most of the work we have under contract in the United States, an important factor when evaluating client scheduling and cost management. Our self-performing “Core Sectors” continue to set Lane apart as a resourceful and reliable industry leader.

Lane’s concern for construction quality and project scheduling is complimented by one of the best safety records in the industry. The Company’s numerous locations have earned a reputation from its customers in both the private and public sectors for completing projects on time and for producing and placing high quality hot mix asphalt, concrete paving and aggregate.

Lane is ranked 44th (ENR 2012) among Top 400 Contractors in the US and is the 2nd largest highway contractor. —(Engineering News Record (ENR) 2011)

I-20 Reconstruction and Lane Widening

Augusta I-20

The Augusta I-20 project consisted of widening a section of I-20 from four lanes to six. It included the reconstruction of two bridges. Lane completed the concrete paving using the GZ Paver in conjunction with a Dowel Bar Inserter (DBI).

This marked Georgia’s first use of a DBI during concrete paving and of an MIT scan for quality control. The Georgia Department of Transportation was pleased with both the speed of the production and the quality of the results.

 Arena Drive Interchange Maryland

Widened the I-495/I-95 interchange at Arena Drive to a full time interchange to handle the existing traffic and proposed future growth in the area.

This project involved widening I-495/95 at the existing grass median from Arena Drive past MD 202 to the Glenarden Parkway overpass (approximately 2 miles). When construction began, the Capital Beltway (I-495/95) was four lanes in each direction. The contract required the addition of one lane in each direction in the current median and a change in the traffic pattern from four through lanes to three through lanes on the inside with two lanes for a collector distributor road on the outside.

A. Max Brewer Bridge Replacement Florida

The A. Max Brewer Bridge, which spans the Indian River in Titusville, connected the City of Titusville to the barrier island.  It provided access to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, beaches and the Kennedy Space Center.

Lane reconstructed and realigned the SR 406 roadway and bridge approaches and built a 300-foot recreational fishing pier that extends into the river parallel to the new bridge at the end of the west causeway.  The replacement bridge is comprised of pre-tensioned, 78-inch bulb-tee approach spans and a post-tensioned, three-span continuous modified 78-inch bulb-tee channel unit.  The new 3,200-foot-long bridge has two 12-foot lanes with an eight-foot outside shoulder and a five-foot-wide sidewalk in each direction.  The new bridge opened in January 2011.
