ORLANDO, FL – Significant congestion relief has come sooner than expected for motorists traveling along Florida’s Turnpike (SR 91) between Hancock Road and U.S. 27, thanks to an accelerated construction effort on the widening project.
The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Webuild Group, has advanced construction activities on Florida’s Turnpike/State Road 91 in Minneola to expedite the opening of a third southbound lane – nearly three years early (1,020 days ahead of schedule).
This fast-tracked schedule will ease congestion along one of Florida’s busiest corridors, improving connectivity, reliability, and safety for commuters and travelers. The seven-mile project from Minneola Interchange to north of O’Brien Road adds multiple lanes in both directions, two new ramp movements at U.S. 27, and enhances operational efficiency. This milestone is part of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise’s broader mainline widening initiative, a critical investment to enhance capacity along a vital freight and hurricane evacuation corridor serving residents and more than 100 million visitors annually.
This achievement highlights Lane’s ability to deliver complex infrastructure ahead of schedule through innovation and collaboration. Building on this momentum, Lane completed the I-275 Section 7 Phase 1 project in Tampa early last year. From major highway expansions to advanced mobility solutions, Lane consistently sets the benchmark for performance and reliability—helping communities travel safer, faster, and smarter.
