CHESHIRE, CT – Today, The Lane Construction Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Webuild Group, announced it reached a major milestone on its Florida’s Turnpike project in Orange County. Three new ramps have been opened (including two flyovers) at the SR 417 Interchange and the Florida’s Turnpike is now open at full capacity, providing an improved safety and enhanced mobility experience for drivers, six months ahead of schedule.
Florida’s Turnpike is a major toll road within Florida’s Turnpike System used by more than three million travelers each day, and is operated by Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise under the Florida Department of Transportation. The overall project, valued at $177 million, aims to reduce congestion by widening the Turnpike’s Mainline from Osceola Parkway to Beachline Expressway from four to eight lanes. As part of the Florida Highway System, the Turnpike provides access to major routes from Miami to Central Florida to move goods and accommodate future growth in the region and is essential to attractions and tourism in the area. The project is expected to be completed this summer.
Lane has nearly $500 million worth of other active highway projects in Florida: The Poinciana Parkway Phase 2 project in Osceola County; the Suncoast Parkway 2 project in Hernando and Citrus counties; and the Wekiva Parkway Section 8 in Seminole County. Additionally, the company is constructing a $524 million reservoir in South Florida as part of the Everglades restoration.
