The Little River Water Reclamation Facility serves Mountain Park and communities nearby in north Fulton and part of Cherokee County of Georgia. The wastewater treatment plant property is located at the junction of Rocky Creek and the Little River. A golf course and residential areas surround it.

Overview

The Little River WRF Expansion project entails improvements and expansion of the Little River wastewater treatment plant. It’s the first part of a plan to overhaul the county’s water and sewer system. The expansion will end the sewer tap moratorium in its coverage area.

Technical Highlights

The project’s major elements include:

  • Demolition and removal of existing unused buildings and structures
  • Construction of the Little River WRF Expansion, a new membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant

The work also includes: influent piping, influent pumping, preliminary treatment including screening and grit removal, modification to existing basins to provide secondary treatment using biological treatment basins, membrane bioreactors (MBRs), ultraviolet light disinfection, plant and reuse water pumping, and effluent gravity sewer piping.
