Mark A. Schiller
president & Chief Executive officer (1989)
A career employee with Lane, Mark was hired as a Job Engineer assigned to Lane's mass transit project in College Park, Maryland right out of college. He was promoted to Project Engineer within the Maryland/Virginia area, became a Regional District Manager of the Mid-Atlantic region, and eventually became responsible for Lane’s Plants and Paving segment up until the sale of the segment in 2018 when he became Chief Operating Officer of Construction. Today, Mark is President and CEO of Lane Industries, Inc., the parent company of The Lane Construction Corporation, and continues to manage the core geographic operational areas.

Gianfranco came to Lane from Salini Impregilo Group, Lane’s parent company. He spent 22 years at Salini Impregilo, starting in the field on a project in Pakistan. He worked on projects around the world and eventually held several management positions, including Group Finance Director UK in 2002, Managing Director of Impregilo International Infrastructures NV in the Netherlands in 2008, and Managing Director of Fisia Babcock Environment GmbH in Germany in 2009. He also sat on the boards for several Group companies internationally. In 2012, Gianfranco was appointed Director, Corporate Development, responsible for selling non-core activities and acquiring new assets including the acquisition of Lane in 2016. Since 2016, Gianfranco is responsible for all mergers and acquisitions of the Group, the management of non-core activities and subsidiaries, as well as all activities for the integration, coordination, and control of Lane. In January 2018, Gianfranco joined Lane as Chief Operating Officer – Corporate and Executive Vice President.
Michael M. Cote
Executive Vice President & Chief development & technical officer (1986)
Mike is a 30+ year veteran employee of Lane and has extensive contract and development experience. He started his career with Lane as a Job Engineer. Mike currently oversees Lane's business development, pursuits, and bidding functions whose overall goal is to win large and complex infrastructure, including design-build and public-private partnership (P3) projects. Mike is a past Chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) and is on the Board of Trustees for the NAPA Research and Education Foundation. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and The Moles (NYC heavy construction group).
Mark J. Tomkalski
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (2006)
Mark came to Lane in 2006 with a decade of previous accounting, auditing and corporate financial experience. Prior to coming to Lane, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and had provided services to Lane for annual audits. Since joining Lane, Mark has risen from Manager of Financial Reporting and Budgeting to Assistant Vice President and Controller to Vice President of Finance to his current position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Seth T. Firmender
Vice President - General counsel & Assistant Secretary (2012)
Seth has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry. As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, he oversees Lane’s legal and compliance functions. Prior to joining Lane, Seth practiced construction law nationally and was general counsel of a leading western heavy highway company. Seth’s legal experience is broad, including trial work, claims, banking and finance, legal and governance, regulatory and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate.
Executive Vice President - Human Resources & Organization
Adolfo came to Lane with 20 years of experience in human resources (HR), most recently from Whirlpool where he oversaw the HR function of the commercial organization in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2018, he joined Lane as Executive Vice President of HR and Organization and is responsible for all HR functions including staffing and recruiting, benefits and compensation, employee relations, and learning and development. Adolfo has a law degree and a postgraduate degree in Labor Law and Industrial Relations from Università degli Studi di Napoli ‘Federico II’, Naples, Italy.
